About The White House Inn
Built in 1915 as a summer home for local lumber baron Martin Brown, the White House Inn is steeped in Vermont history and offers a look back into the romance of a bygone era. The magnificent mansion has 14 fireplaces, exquisite molding and woodwork, original light fixtures and hand-painted wallpaper, a hidden staircase, haunted bank vault and an antique servant call system. These are just a few of the original features that make the Inn truly unique and compel many of our guests to come back year after year.
The White House Inn has 17 guest rooms, each equipped with private bath and tastefully furnished with unique pieces that complement the Inn’s architecture and history. The Inn’s hilltop location allows for sweeping views from every room. The most magnificent view is from our Tavern where you can enjoy a light bite to eat, sip a refreshing cocktail or choose a special bottle from the Inn’s extensive wine list, all while watching the sun settle gently behind the tree-covered mountains of Vermont’s Deerfield Valley. Following your cocktail, enjoy a top-caliber fine dining experience at the Inn’s Restaurant where meals are sumptuously prepared with seasonal, fresh and locally sourced ingredients whenever possible.
Garden as Art Gallery
The White House Inn features over 1.5 acres of formal gardens, planted by artist Heather Lahaise. The formal gardens were designed by the award-winning landscape architect John Hall. Located beyond the front terrace of estate, the elegant yet welcoming perennial gardens and stone terraces set a perfect backdrop for weddings and other celebrations. We invite you to enjoy an al-fresco dining experience amidst the blossoms while watching our famous sunset view.
We hope that you will enjoy an unforgettable, relaxing vacation with us – one that you will be eager to repeat year after year.
